Welcome to MidBiteCrisis! I am a Health Coach and health food enthusiast! I love to learn about nutrition and fitness and work with those who would like to do the same. Just as everyone is different i like to look at the person as a whole and see what is right for them. I blog about what I've learned and the experiences that i have been through with food, nutrition, exercise, and everything in between!

Oh, this little plant?
Of course the Prickly Pear Cactus plant is the state plant of Texas. With all it’s great benefits, where else would it be?!
Many people haven’t even thought that they could eat a cactus and have it taste so good. Well, a cactus fruit that is. You could eat the cactus pad if you wanted to but the fruit tastes so much better.
I just recently learned about these fruits and had the fun of eating them for the first time this week. The first thing you’ll notice about these little fruits is how deep purple, or magenta, they are. The betalains that the plant contains, which have powerful anti-inflammatory properties, are what give this pear it’s red pigment, which is the same for beets as well. These just taste much better!
The main benefits that we see from prickly pears is that they promote weight loss and glucose control. These little fruits have been used for years to help combat diabetes and weight gain.
Try these fruits!
